What began as an email-signature redesign became a practical compatibility investigation. The signature combines portrait, contact information, identity, social-media destinations, and a restrained visual hierarchy inside the unusually limited HTML and CSS environment supported by email clients.
Each revision was tested in Gmail Compose and in received messages, with special attention to link preservation, image loading, mobile wrapping, font-size overrides, and the different behavior of social and contact links.
A narrow, table-based structure designed for the realities of HTML email and small phone screens.
Iterative testing of Gmail Compose, Sent mail, Android rendering, dark mode, and recipient behavior.
Systematic isolation of when contact and social links survive composition, sending, and delivery.
Portrait, typography, contact icons, social icons, spacing, and hierarchy unified in a compact format.
Email HTML is not ordinary web HTML. Modern layout techniques cannot be assumed, CSS may be rewritten or ignored, links can behave differently before and after sending, and mobile clients may override small type. The final design therefore uses conservative markup, inline styles, explicit dimensions, and repeated end-to-end tests.
The project produced a committed, reusable signature and a documented known-good baseline. It also uncovered reproducible Gmail link-handling and rendering behaviors that informed the final layout.
