Star Almanack
Validation
Astronomical calculations are preserved with regression cases and diagnostics so later improvements can be tested against known behavior.
Best-visibility regression
The reconstructed best-visibility calculation reproduces all 15 preserved reference dates.
Eclipse validation
The eclipse engine is now suitable for Almanack use under the project’s current tolerance. Precision work continues independently so published functionality does not block further scientific improvement.
Principle
Source data, computational assumptions, rounding conventions, algorithms, and preserved test cases belong with the project. A replacement implementation should demonstrate that it still reproduces accepted results.
